Quark-hadron duality at work: lifetimes of bottom baryons

In the 1990s, very low experimental values for lifetime ratio $\tau (\Lambda_b)/\tau(B_d)$ triggered a considerable amount of doubt in applicability heavy quark expansion (HQE), which is based on assumption quark-hadron duality (QHD) inclusive total decay rates. However, these turned out to be result purely problems, and current HFLAV average reads (\Lambda_b)/\tau(B_d) = 0.969(6)$. this work, we present Standard Model predictions $b$-baryon lifetimes within framework HQE. particular, include first time contribution Darwin term update estimates matrix elements dimension-six four-quark operators. Within theoretical uncertainties, find excellent agreement between data HQE predictions, thus no indication any visible violation QHD. Our numerical results can summarised by ratios 0.955(14)$, (\Omega_b^-)/\tau(B_d) 1.081(42)$, (\Xi_b^0)/\tau (\Xi_b^-) 0.929(28)$.
